As part of a consortium called Minerva, TQ Education and Training Ltd (TQ) has been awarded a 28 year Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract by the Ministry of Defence for the Defence 6th Form College, or Welbeck College as it is currently known. The Defence 6th Form College will provide a first-class ‘A’ level education for young men and women considering a career in the Armed Forces. The new residential technical college is to be built at Woodhouse, Loughborough, Leicestershire and is due to open in September 2005, and will replace the Army Sixth Form College at Welbeck in North Nottinghamshire.

TQ will be responsible for curriculum and education, the management of all educational learning resources including ICT, library and learning resource facilities, sport and pastoral care. DSFC will offer students an opportunity to succeed academically, physically and in terms of leadership development. ‘A’ Level subjects taught include Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Business Studies, Physics, Electronics, Design and Technology, Geography, IT, History, Politics along with Sports Studies and Critical Thinking & Officer Skills. Non-academic subjects undertaken include sporting and outdoor activities such as hockey, athletics, golf, soccer, rugby, canoeing, caving, rowing, cross-country running, sailing, photography, pottery, music and band practice, etc.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
There are likely to be opportunities at Defence Sixth Form College for academic and non-academic staff, i.e. teachers of all subject areas, Housestaff and support staff such as technicians and house-keeping staff. Teaching staff are likely to be graduates in their own specialist subject area and they will receive an attractive salary package. All teaching staff are expected to contribute significantly to the extra-curricular life of the College. The types of roles we are looking at the new DSFC include :
